Amigo Room

This is a place I have been to many times before, but not recently. I write this now because there is a new sheriff in town and he did time at Mikkeller DTLA. He scrapped the previous, anemic tap list and immediately installed the real deal on tap. I had a English pale from Yorkshire Square in Torrance and a Reissdorf Kolsch - an actual Kolsch from Cologne, fresh! This may easily be the new king in town when it comes to craft beer (not that that is saying much, unfortunately) and there are plans for more. Keep it up!

Expensive ...

Great drinks and service, but a bit overly pricey. This isn't LA, it's PS. Keep the beverage prices accordingly plz

Not recommended. Period.

Gets five stars. Not because it's the ritz, or location, or any fancy shmancy reasons. But because it's as billed. Run down old motel on Hollywood Blvd. with hardwood floors, updated with band aids. And CHEAP. Staff is friendly, room ready early, not here to party in my room or at the pool. Here to sight see and have a safe place to lie down after universal city and walk of fame. Will be back again.

Great vibe craft cocktails excellent service awesome snacks from Kings Highway.

Bit of a sleeper this one but some great cocktails (Oxacan) good food (Amigo burger with horseradish!). Good selection of craft beers. Friendly staff are what made it.

I'm a regular here on Mondays for the most fun bar trivia I've ever participated in. The beer selection is always an adventure.

This is in the Ace Hotel. Good for getting food when their Kings Hwy coffee shop is closed in between meals. Good service and the same for as the restaurant. But, it is the bar.

Located in the Ace Hotel, this is a cozy bar with access to the pool. Bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled.

The bartenders are good guys, the drinks are on point and the beer selection is why I go.

I got to the Amigo Room around 9 p.m. and it was rather inviting. I liked the decor and the vibe. It's a small space, but the booth setup provided what felt like a little privacy that allowed for talking with friends. Until a little later that hour when the DJ started. The volume was up so high that talking (or hearing anyway) became very difficult. I would anticipate that at a bar more suited to dancing, but the Amigo Room is more of a tiny, low-key, pseudo-Mexican cocktail bar that would be better left to those who want to sit and drink. However, that being said, it's not a great place to go if you appreciate a good drink. I was warned by more the one person in the party we were joining not to order the drinks that they had chosen, and my whiskey sour was all sour and nearly no whiskey. Overall, the Amigo Room had some charm, but probably not enough to get me back there.

Amigo Room shares the same menu and kitchen as the diner next door but has slightly funkier decor and live music at night.Came in for dinner on the Friday evening of our stay and it took almost 25 minutes for the server to bring us menus despite the fact he'd acknowledged us when we walked in!I ordered the Carnitas Tacos, which were pretty decent, and the frozen watermelon margarita. We would have stayed longer but a band started playing and the singer was woefully out of key so we jumped ship and headed to the pool.Probably wouldn't eat in here if I could avoid it as the service isn't worth the tip.

This bar looks really cool inside. They had lots of food and drinks to choose from.
